5 Tips for Spring Closet Cleaning
1. Evaluate: Ask about each item. Do you like it? Is it in good shape? Still in fashion? Does it fit?
2. Discard any item that received a “no”: Have a large bag or box ready for the discards. Too many items to go through at one time? Work through your closet section-by-section.
3. Clean the Closet: Use a slightly damp cloth to dust the inside of the closet. Vacuum or mop the floor.
4. Use Your Space Effectively: Look for any empty wall space that can be used for storage by installing belt racks for purses and ties. Clear containers with labels can hold scarves, jewelry, and shoes.
5. Use Wood Hangers: Face all the hangers in the same direction. Organize clothes like-with-like and then by color—dark to light. Stay organized by putting away items daily.

Life stage: Just beginning a family? The kids are teens and moving away soon? Retirement is right around the corner?
Location: City, country or the burbs? Do you want to be close to good schools, work, parks or sports activities? Near friends and family?
Lifestyle: Do you need space to entertain, work at home or a quiet place to retreat?
Size: How many bedrooms and bathrooms will you need? What size garage will work for you? Is space needed for children to play, a work shop, hobbies or storage?
Safety: If you have young children, what's needed to make a house safe indoors and out? Do any family members have special needs?
Special items: Do you want a home with environmentally friendly features? Are air conditioning, a fireplace or a swimming pool on your wish list?

A Chocolate-Lover's Brownie
This comes from a cook who has splattered a good many cookbook pages with chocolate in her quest for the perfect brownie. She says this is it. Always a crowd pleaser!
1 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (12-ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13x9x2-inch pan. Line the pan with parchment paper and grease the paper. In a microwave safe mixing bowl, melt the butter in the microwave. Add the cocoa and stir until blended. Add the sugar and mix well. Add the eggs, one at time, beating well after each addition. Add the flour, vanilla, and salt and stir until just mixed together. Stir in the chocolate chips. Spread in the pan and bake 25 to 30 minutes. Cool thoroughly. Cut into 24 squares.
